Chris is the Executive Director for Carolinas Clean Energy Business Association, a position he has held for the past eight years. In this role, Chris manages the CCEBA advocacy and legal teams and all of the policy and regulatory work in North and South Carolina. Chris previously worked for the Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy and at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and approaches the clean energy industry with a business lens. Chris has an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College and a Master’s in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. In his spare time, Chris and his wife attempt to keep up with their curious and energetic daughter.
John Burns
John joined CCEBA in 2020 as the General Counsel. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating the legal and regulatory work of the organization before courts and utilities commissions in both North and South Carolina. Before joining CCEBA, John had a twenty-year career as a commercial litigation attorney in Raleigh. In 2014, he was elected to the Wake County Board of Commissioners and served until 2018, focusing on sustainability, energy efficiency, and public transit. John is from High Point, North Carolina and received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Davidson College and his law degree from Wake Forest University. He can frequently be found driving his son to youth hockey.
Suzanne Sabin
Suzanne serves as CCEBA’s Policy and Communications Manager. She joined us full-time in 2024 after several years of assisting the organization as a consultant. Suzanne supports CCEBA’s policy and regulatory work and manages our communications and events. She previously worked with Diane Cherry Consulting and offers a holistic, interdisciplinary approach to clean energy. Suzanne has a Master’s in Environmental Management and a certificate in Climate Change Science/ Applications from Duke University, and an undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University. In her spare time, Suzanne enjoys co-parenting two dogs with her husband and working to hit her 100-book reading goal for the year.
