A bipartisan group of 30 state legislators from Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina attended an energy bootcamp in Charleston, SC September 12-14th.

The bootcamp, organized by the National Conference of Environmental Legislators (NCEL), was co-sponsored by the CCEBA. Topics for legislators included utility regulation, the state of the southeast grid, and the business case for clean energy. Current and former utility commissioners and legislators spoke as well as experts in utilities law and power grids. Former Arkansas Public Service Commission Chair Ted Thomas delivered the keynote address, discussing how to keep electricity costs low for ratepayers.

The education session also included a tour of Clemson University’s Dominion Energy Innovation Center to see “the world’s most-advanced wind-turbine drivetrain testing facility.”

CCEBA company members EnergyRE, Treaty Oak, and Fox Rothschild also co-sponsored the event and participated in a “Business of Clean Energy” discussion led by Executive Director Chris Carmody.
