The Carolinas Clean Energy Business Association applauds Governor Stein’s veto of S266 and calls on state legislators to sustain his action. If enacted, S266 will increase costs for ratepayers and disrupt hundreds of millions of dollars of investment from CCEBA members and others in least-cost, reliable clean energy projects across our state.

An independent study from NC State University shows that S266 will increase our electricity costs by close to $1 billion per year for the next 25 years. Additional study by the North Carolina Public Staff demonstrates that S266 will shift over $24 million in expenses per year from large companies to residential ratepayers. S266 is a bad bill North Carolinians cannot afford.
