Pivot Energy is a national clean energy provider and independent power producer that develops and owns community scale solar projects.
Can you tell us more about your geographic footprint and business lines?
Pivot Energy leverages its renewable expertise to provide a range of unique offerings that accelerate the clean energy transition by helping companies and communities attain impactful decarbonization. We develop, finance, build, own, and manage distributed solar projects, including: on- and off-site solar, community solar, ground mount, rooftop, and carport projects, as well as energy storage projects. Pivot also offers a proprietary community solar portfolio and subscriber management platform, SunCentral. Headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Pivot has projects built or under development in 30 states across the U.S.
How many projects have you completed? How many gigawatts (GW) of generation?
In partnership with our amazing client roster (Fortune 500) and network, Pivot Energy has developed more than 640 projects totaling 177 megawatts (MWs). Our estimated lifetime offset for our solar arrays equates to over 600,000 cars removed from the road, 1.3 megatons (MT) of coal not burned, and 2.7 MT of avoided CO₂ emissions.
What are some of the most interesting projects you’ve done? What are you most proud of?
We aim to be a leader in socially impactful and responsible solar development, ensuring our projects deliver meaningful benefits to the communities we operate in. For example, Pivot has donated and pledged over one million dollars to community-based organizations that are reducing energy burden for low-income families or developing pathways for local residents to pursue careers in the renewable energy industry. In Colorado, we have a 41 MW portfolio that serves 100 percent low- and middle-income (LMI) customers.
Pivot is also committed to employing regenerative operations and maintenance (O&M) practices across our portfolio. We create partnerships with hyper-local farmers, allowing them to be stewards of the land on Pivot’s behalf rather than contracting for typical vegetation management for the sake of compliance. As a result, 98 percent of our combined portfolio of greenfield project sites now employ sheep grazing, and some of these sites also host bee colonies or are pilot crop production sites. What interests you about the Carolinas market?
Pivot is seeking to expand its footprint . We especially see opportunity in South Carolina due to the combination of high solar resources, the presence of Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Energy Communities, and the relative lack of existing solar market penetration. Pivot has corporate clients with a particular interest in markets with relatively lower solar market penetration.
